In the beginning, there was God! He existed before everything else. The book of Genesis tells us about the beginnings of just about everything else. This month, we will learn about how God created the universe and the beginnings of His relationship with His created people. Genesis lays the foundation for who God is and how He loves us.

God had promised Abraham that his family would be great and God would give them a great land. It was not an easy path. He was faithful to provide for them and keep every promise.

The Israelites finally entered the land God had promised to them. However, their battles weren’t over as they faced the enemies around them, both other countries and the consequences of their own sin. Throughout all the challenges, one thing remained the same – the sweetness of God’s greatness. This month kids will learn about the greatness of God that sets Him apart from everyone and everything else.

1 Kings 18:16-45
Israel’s problems didn’t end once they had a king. They continued to disobey God. God raised up prophets who carried His messages to the people, warning them to follow Him and of coming consequences. Just as the prophets told, Israel was taken over by enemies and exiled from their homes. Still, God showed the people His holiness and how great He is over all of their circumstances. From visions of His holiness, to a dramatic rescue, to His compassion towards a rebellious prophet, to working through His people to restore what was broken, God was near to His people.
God is holy.
