Teach

Kids will learn from the Bible story that God is carrying out His plans even when things are going badly.

Bad Day Beanbag Toss: Kids will toss beanbags onto cards with difficult situations to think about how God is bigger and is to be trusted.

Shine

To finish your time together, kids will do one of these activities: Choose Your Challenge: Kids will pick a challenge for the week to work on and take home an illustrated page that has their challenge listed. Knot Prayers: Kids will tie knots in yarn to remind them that bad times can make their faith stronger and they can trust God.

Lesson Goals & Questions

You will be helping kids to grow as resilient disciples! Kids are more interested in learning if it relates to something they are curious about. Through this lesson we’re going to help kids explore these three questions they may have:

  • He

Question about God: Is God bigger than the bad things that happen?

Big Goal 1: God is carrying out His plan, even when things are going badly.

  • We

Question about people: Will our circumstances always feel OK?

Big Goal 2: Sometimes we’ll go through hard things, even when we try to do the right thing.

  • Me

Question about our purpose: What do I do when things seem really bad?

Big Goal 3: I can look at how God took care of Joseph, and be faithful to God no matter what.

Cultural Connection: Loss and Grief

You will have the option to bring up the topic of loss and grief with kids, and encourage them in their discipleship.
