Brite Monthly – Preschool: April 2024
This month’s Biblical theme is:
The Early Church
As Jesus ascends into heaven, the disciples are left with the promise of the Holy Spirit and with specific instructions. The Holy Spirit is sent and received, as the disciples can suddenly speak different languages. People are confused by this power of God. Yet, the disciples are able to show how mighty God is as they share what God has done for them. This marks the beginning of the early church as thousands repent and decide to follow God
Monthly Bible Verse: If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31b)
Jesus Appears to the Disciples: Jesus had died on the cross and risen from the dead. He is alive! The disciples were shocked when Jesus appeared to them! He showed them His wounds and reassured them of His love.
Jesus Ascends: After the resurrection, the Holy Spirit or the Helper was promised to the disciples. Jesus told the disciples to share the good news all around the world and then ascended into heaven. The disciples were promised that Jesus would return again someday.
Pentecost: The disciples were gathered for Pentecost when a loud sound was heard and flames of fire appeared above each person’s head. They began to speak in other languages. Peter preached about what Jesus had done and encouraged people to follow God. Five thousand people believed in Jesus, and the church was born.
Stephen: Stephen was called to serve and help share the gospel with others. This Bible story will look at the beginning of Stephen’s ministry as he lived his life fully in surrender to God and the call on his life.
This month’s Unit Title is: Explore!
This month we will be exploring and learning about Jesus’ last days on Earth and the birth of the church. The early church made a movement that took off to great places unknown. They didn’t always know where they were going and had to trust in God to be their GPS. To decorate, use maps, airplanes, travel posters, suitcases and postcards! Teaching Kids about the Gospel:
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died and rose again to save us from our sins. God wants everyone, even preschoolers, to know this good news.
Here’s the Gospel in four words: God, Us, Jesus, Trust.
God
God is a loving God who is all-powerful and great. He knows and sees everything, and rules over everything. God created all people in His image, and we are special to Him.
Us
But we have sinned, and our sin separates us from God. What is sin? Sin is anything we think, say, or do that disobeys God.
Jesus
God loves us so much, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus. Jesus came to save us by dying on the cross for our sins. Jesus rose again three days later and is alive!
Trust
God gives salvation, rescuing us from our sin, to everyone who places their trust in Jesus as their Savior. What is trust? It means that we rely on what Jesus did.
