Brite Elementary: God’s Big Story Bonus Unit
This Month’s Attribute of God Is: God’s Big Story
The whole Bible is one story—God’s Big Story. Scripture teaches us that God created a perfect world, including His most beloved creation—people. But people sinned which caused the whole world to fall into brokenness. Because of God’s great love, Jesus came to Earth, died and rose again to redeem His people. When we believe in Him, Jesus restores us to a right relationship with God and will one day make everything new again. Understanding this big story helps us understand who God is and how much He truly loves us.
Monthly Memory Verse: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Creation (Genesis 1):
God created everything by the power of His Word. He created the sun, moon, stars, birds, sea creatures and land animals. God created Adam and Eve in His own image.
Brite Idea: God made everything.
The Fall (Genesis 2-3):
A serpent tempted Eve, and she and Adam ate fruit that God had forbidden. Their sin separated them from God. God promised a Savior who would defeat the serpent and free all people from the power of sin.
Brite Idea: God is holy and set apart from sin.
Restoration (Genesis 3:15; John 1:1-5; 14; 19:28-37; 20:1-10):
Jesus, the promised Savior, lived a perfect life. He died on the cross for our sins and rose again, victorious over sin and death. Trusting in Jesus is the only way to a relationship with God.
Brite Idea: Jesus is our Savior.
Redemption (Revelation 21:1-7):
God gave John a vision of the new heaven and new earth. Our broken world will be fully renewed, and followers of Christ will live in a perfect relationship with God forever!
Brite Idea: God will make all things new!

This Month’s Leader Training Topic Is: Helping Kids Feel Safe
We work hard to make our churches a safe place physically, spiritually and emotionally for kids. But it’s not enough for kids to be safe. In order for them to fully participate and grow in their faith, they must FEEL safe.
Throughout the month, we’ll explore the following:
Week 1 – Provide Predictable Environments
Week 2 – Give Choices
Week 3 – Remain Playful
Week 4 – Responding to Big Emotions
Teaching Kids about the Gospel:
The Gospel is the good news. God wants everyone to know this good news and not miss out on this invitation!
Here’s the Gospel in four main words: God, Us, Jesus, Trust.
God
God is a loving God who is all-powerful and holy. He knows and sees everything and rules over everything. God created all people in His image, and we are valuable to Him.
Us
But we have sinned, and our sin separates us from God. What is sin? Sin is anything we think, say or do that disobeys God. The penalty for sin is death and separation from God forever.
Jesus
But because God loves us so much, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our sin. Jesus died in our place. But He did not stay dead—He rose again three days later. Because of Jesus, we no longer have to be separated from God, and we are offered the free gift of eternal life!
Trust
God gives salvation—rescuing us from our sin—to everyone who places their trust in Jesus as their Savior. What is trust? It means that we rely on what Jesus did. You cannot be saved from sin by doing good things, but only through what Jesus did for you.
