Brite Monthly – Elementary: October 2025

This Month’s Biblical Theme Is: God is King

God is King, reigning with absolute authority, justice and love over all creation. As the sovereign Ruler, His power is unmatched, and His wisdom guides the universe with perfect order and purpose. Unlike the earthly king the Israelites cried out for, God’s reign is eternal and unchanging, filled with mercy and grace for His people. He governs with a heart of compassion, inviting all to find refuge under His divine protection and provision. As King, He calls His followers to honor Him with reverence and obedience, promising an everlasting kingdom of peace and joy for those who trust in Him.

Monthly Memory Verse: Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory! (Psalm 24:10)

Israel’s First King (1 Samuel 8:1–9; 13:1–14; 15:10–29)

King Saul was chosen to lead the Israelites but disobeyed God. Because he forgot that God is the one true King, Saul’s time as king would come to an end.

Brite Idea: God is the one true King.

David is Chosen (1 Samuel 16)

God told Samuel to anoint a new king after Saul disobeyed God. David, the youngest and smallest son of Jesse, was chosen to be the next king of Israel.

Brite Idea: God sees our hearts.

David and the Ark (2 Samuel 5–6)

After a great victory, King David brought the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem. Ignoring what people thought, David openly danced and worshiped God in the street.

Brite Idea: God is worthy of worship.

God’s Covenant with David (2 Samuel 7)

God promised that David would have a son who would build the temple, but in an even greater promise, God said that One would come from David’s family who would be the King forever. This One was the Savior God promised throughout the Old Testament.

Brite Idea: God promised a forever King.

This Month’s Leader Training Topic Is: Responding to Concerning Behaviors

As we work with kids, we will encounter behaviors that are difficult. Rather than make assumptions about the kid, let’s get curious while attempting to identify the need. Their behavior is a form of communication. While they may not be using their words, they are communicating. Here are some ideas to maintain connection when we encounter concerning or difficult behavior:

Throughout the month, we’ll explore the following:

Week 1 – Be Playful

Week 2 – Big Emotions and Helpful Responses

Week 3 – Remember It’s Not About You

Week 4 – Our Words Are Powerful

Teaching Kids about the Gospel:

The Gospel is the good news. God wants everyone to know this good news and not miss out on this invitation!

Here’s the Gospel in four main words: God, Us, Jesus, Trust.

God

God is a loving God who is all-powerful and holy. He knows and sees everything and rules over everything. God created all people in His image, and we are valuable to Him.

Us

But we have sinned, and our sin separates us from God. What is sin? Sin is anything we think, say or do that disobeys God. The penalty for sin is death and separation from God forever.

Jesus

But because God loves us so much, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our sin. Jesus died in our place. But He did not stay dead—He rose again three days later. Because of Jesus, we no longer have to be separated from God, and we are offered the free gift of eternal life!

Trust

God gives salvation— rescuing us from our sin, to everyone who places their trust in Jesus as their Savior. What is trust? It means that we rely on what Jesus did. You cannot be saved from sin by doing good things, but only through what Jesus did for you.
