Brite Monthly – November 2024

This month’s Biblical theme is:

God is faithful

God’s faithfulness is seen in each of the stories this month. David, Elijah and Daniel were all protected and cared for. Even in exile, Ezekiel prophesied hope for Jerusalem’s restoration, symbolized by dry bones coming to life. Despite Israel’s disobedience, God remained steadfast — guiding, providing and protecting His people. No matter the trial, God is faithful.

Monthly Memory Verse: For great is His steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! (Psalm 117:2)

David and Saul (1 Samuel 24)
Saul disobeyed God, so David was chosen as the next king, making Saul jealous. David was in danger but chose to spare Saul’s life, proving his loyalty. Saul continued to pursue David. David became king as promised after Saul’s death.

Elijah (1 Kings 17)
After Solomon’s reign, Israel split into two kingdoms. God sent prophets like Elijah to guide His people. God sustained Elijah through a drought. God led him to a widow who provided for him. Elijah would later resurrect her son through God’s power.

Daniel in the Lions’ Den (Daniel 6)
Israel and Judah worshiped other gods and were taken captive. Daniel, a captive, remained faithful and rose to high positions. Daniel refused to obey a law that forbade praying to God. He was thrown into a lion’s den but God faithfully saved Daniel!

Ezekiel (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
Ezekiel foretold Jerusalem’s destruction but also offered hope. God showed him a vision of dry bones, symbolizing revival of the Israelite nation. God promised Judah’s return, and after 70 years, exiles returned and began rebuilding the Temple.

This month, cover the front of your space with planting pots and gardening tools! Dig through your garage or gardening shed and decorate your kidmin space with yard tools. You could even lay a tarp on the floor and cover it with soil or mulch. Consider making a banner out of seed packets or hang paper flowers from the ceiling!

This Month’s Leader Training Topic is: Classroom Management

Effective classroom management is about developing a leader toolbox. Fill your toolbox with various techniques to connect with your kids and manage the crowds. Sometimes you need a gentle tool like whispering to get everyone to listen closely. Other times you might need a stronger tool such as flicking the lights on and off and having kids to put their heads down. Having a full toolbox is the key to feeling confident leading kids!

Throughout the month, we’ll explore the following topics:

  • Week 1 Content—Get Kids’ Attention
  • Week 2 Content—Have Group Rules
  • Week 3 Content—Establish Routine
  • Week 4 Content—Read the Room
Teaching Kids about the Gospel:

The Gospel is the good news. God wants everyone to know this good news and not miss out on this invitation!

Here’s the Gospel in four words: God, Us, Jesus, Trust.

God

God is a loving God who is all-powerful and holy. He knows and sees everything and rules over everything. God created all people in His image, and we are valuable to Him.

Us

But we have sinned, and our sin separates us from God. What is sin? Sin is anything we think, say or do that disobeys God. The penalty for sin is death and separation from God forever.

Jesus

But because God loves us so much, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our sin. Jesus died in our place. But He did not stay dead—He rose again three days later. Because of Jesus, we no longer have to be separated from God, and we are offered the free gift of eternal life!

Trust

God gives salvation—rescuing us from our sin—to everyone who places their trust in Jesus as their Savior. What is trust? It means that we rely on what Jesus did. You cannot be saved from sin by doing good things, but only through what Jesus did for you.
