Brite Monthly – Preschool: May 2026
This Month’s Biblical Theme Is: God is in Control
This month’s stories show that God is always in control. The early church grew in vast numbers as many chose to believe in God. God led Philip to the Ethiopian at just the right time to share the Gospel. God miraculously rescued Peter from prison, showing His power over human plans. God used Paul to proclaim the truth to people who had never heard it, and He placed Priscilla and Aquila in Apollo’s path to explain the Gospel more clearly. In each moment, God was directing and fulfilling His plan.
Monthly Memory Verse: Yours is the greatness and the power and the glory. (1 Chronicles 29:11)
The Early Church (Acts 2:42–47, 4:32–37)
The early church continued to grow as many people chose to follow God and God’s ways. The believers were very generous. The believers continued to learn more about God and grow in their faith.
Brite Idea: God is worthy of worship.
Philip and the Ethiopian (Acts 8:26–40)
Philip met an Ethiopian man reading the Scriptures. After Philip told him about Jesus, he believed and was baptized. God’s plan for salvation is for all, not just the Jews.
Brite Idea: God seeks us out.
Peter’s Rescue (Acts 12:3–19)
Peter was arrested. The night before his trial, he was miraculously freed and went to a house of believers. They were amazed, and Peter told how the Lord had rescued him.
Brite Idea: God is powerful.
Paul in Athens (Acts 17:16–34)
Paul preached about Jesus in Athens. At the Areopagus, he explained that God made everything and isn’t found in idols. Some mocked, some were curious and some believed.
Brite Idea: God is the one true God.
Aquila, Priscilla and Apollos (Acts 18:18–28)
Paul went to Syria, while Priscilla and Aquila stayed in Ephesus. They met Apollos, who was boldly preaching about Jesus but lacked full understanding. They taught him more accurately, and Apollos went on to share the Gospel with many others.
Brite Idea: God works through people.
This Month’s Unit Title Is: Today’s Forecast
God is in control of everything—even the weather! Whether it’s rain, sunshine or unexpected snow, the forecast may surprise us, but nothing catches God off guard. The weather may be unpredictable to us, but it’s never outside His command. He is all-powerful and always prepared, even when we are not. No matter what the skies above are like, we can rest knowing that God remains sovereign over it all. Preschool Perspectives
This Month’s Leader Training Topic Is: Partner with Parents
One of the greatest privileges when teaching kids is the opportunity to partner with parents. This enables a bridge to be built between the church and home. Don’t we all want the Bible stories to continue on from the short time we have at church? Here are some ideas on how to do just that:
Throughout the month, we’ll explore the following:
Week 1 – Family Challenge
Week 2 – Grandpals
Week 3 – Being Mistreated for Following Jesus
Week 4 – Weekly Check-In
Week 5 – Celebrate What God Is Doing
Teaching Kids about the Gospel:
The Gospel is the good news. God wants everyone, even preschoolers, to know this good news.
Here’s the Gospel in four main words: God, Us, Jesus, Trust.
God
God is a loving God who is all-powerful and great. He knows and sees everything, and rules over everything. God created all people in His image, and we are special to Him.
Us
But we have sinned, and our sin separates us from God. What is sin? Sin is anything we think, say or do that disobeys God.
Jesus
God loves us so much, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus. Jesus came to save us by dying on the cross for our sins. Jesus rose again three days later and is alive!
Trust
God gives salvation, rescuing us from our sin, to everyone who places their trust in Jesus as their Savior. What is trust? It means that we rely on what Jesus did.
