Eternal Life
Movies, shows and other media offer kids many differing views of what happens when we die. Some kids may have heard that everyone goes to heaven or that they will receive another life as another person or creature. Other prominent religions teach that salvation must be earned. Kids may be confused about what is true. In this week’s Brite lesson, kids learn that Jesus is our forever King who made a way for them to know they can live with God for eternity. Listen to your kids’ perspectives and point them toward the truth that Jesus is the only way to have eternal life. You will have the opportunity to help kids discover that eternity is real and that Jesus can be their King forever.
Here’s how we discussed this topic and how you can discuss it at home:
Discuss: Do you think people think a lot about what happens after someone dies? Why?
Discuss: What are some things you have heard people say happen when you die?
Discuss: What do you think the Bible says about that?
Say: You may have heard people say that once you die, that’s it. Nothing happens after that. Or you may have heard someone say that when you die, you might come back as an animal or as another person. Hebrews 9:27 says: it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. The Bible tells us that after we die, we will either live forever with God or live forever separated from Him. The Bible says that when we die, we face a judgment. If we have trusted in Jesus, we will go to heaven. If we have not trusted in Jesus, we will not go to heaven. Eternal life is real, and Jesus made a way for us to live forever with Him.
