Fear of the Future
Studies have revealed that 41 percent of GenZ fear the future.* Kids see news coverage, observe social media and overhear adult conversations about global unrest, politics, climate change and so much more. No wonder they are concerned! Your kids may who have deep anxiety about their future but don’t feel comfortable expressing that. Your family can be a place where kids hear they can have hope. In this week’s Brite lesson, kids will learn how God is a trustworthy leader. He has a great plan, and one day He will make all things new.
Here’s how we discussed this topic and how you can discuss it at home:
Discuss: What do you think about when you consider the future?
Discuss: Why might some people be scared about the future?
Discuss: What do you think God has to say about that?
Say: You may have heard people say the future of our planet is not good. That can be scary. We live in a fallen world that is broken by sin. Bad things happen and will keep happening until Jesus returns. However, God is a trustworthy leader. We can have hope and not fear when we think about the future. God told one of His prophets that the people would have a very rough time, but they could still have hope for the future. Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Whatever the future holds, we can follow God, trusting He has a good plan. We can also trust that one day Jesus will return and make all things new.
