Feeling Unwanted
Some kids feel unwanted, left out, or unloved by the people around them. Whether it comes from family situations, friendships, or not fitting in, those feelings can be very real and very painful.
In this week’s Brite lesson, kids learned that God loves everyone. His love is unconditional and never ends. He wants every kid to know they are seen, valued, and wanted by Him.
As you talk with your kids this week, remind them that God’s love does not depend on how others treat them. Remember that you are there to support your kids and show them Christ’s love. Every kid deserves to feel known, loved, and safe in their home.
Here’s how we discussed this topic and how you can discuss it at home:
Discuss: Have you ever had a time that you felt unwanted or left out?
Discuss: What can cause kids to feel unwanted?
Discuss: What do you think God has to say about that?
Say: Unfortunately there are times that grown-ups cause kids to feel like they aren’t wanted or aren’t good enough. Most of the time it is not on purpose, and sometimes it is because adults are making bad choices. Sometimes other kids make us feel unwanted. Maybe we feel left out a lot. It really hurts when those types of situations happen. The good news is that even when people hurt us or let us down, God always loves us. He always wants us. The Bible describes believers in Jesus in 1 Peter 2:9 as a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession. You are chosen and deeply loved by God, always.
