Overscheduled Kids
This week’s Brite lesson reminds kids that making time for God matters. As they grow in their relationship with Him, they’re learning that following Jesus isn’t just another activity—it’s part of everyday life.
Many kids have overly full schedules. Between school, sports, homework, and other commitments, life can feel busy. This week, we’re encouraging kids to slow down and make room for God, knowing that He wants to be part of every area of their lives.
This week, ask your kid what they learned at church and take a few minutes to pray together. Even simple moments spent talking about God can help your family stay connected to Him throughout the week.
Here’s how we discussed this topic and how you can discuss it at home:
Discuss: How busy is your week?
Discuss: Do you think it is healthy for kids to be overly busy or not? Why?
Discuss: What do you think God has to say about that?
Say: Life is busy! As we learn about building our life on Jesus, we understand we have to spend time with Him and reading the Bible to know how to best follow Him. It can be challenging to find time to do that when our schedules are so full. It is great to play sports or learn instruments or be involved in great activities. God gives us those talents to glorify Him. However, we have to be careful not to become so busy that we can’t focus on Jesus. Matthew 6:33 says: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Even in the middle of crazy busy schedules, we can value the time we spend with God.
